HawaiiVacations: Honeymoons in Paradise
Hawaii is one of the top honeymoon (and vacation!) destinations in the world. The Islands have their own romantic appeal and each of the Islands is unique. Want the excitement of nightlife? Oahu's the place to be. Looking to relax while surrounded by tropical beauty? Try Kauai.
Timing Your Hawaii Vacation
Tourism in the Hawaiian Islands is at its peak between December and April. This is actually when Hawaii's weather is not at its best (although still comfortably warm). Winter in other parts of the world, however, makes Hawaii's weather look especially appealing.
The best time for a Hawaii vacation is actually during the off-season. Resorts and activities are often available at discounts, there are fewer crowds, and the weather is at its best. Mid April to June and September to mid-December are the best off-season times for honeymoon vacations. The months of July and August attract more family vacationers and can be hot and humid.
A Leeward or Windward Vacation?
Considering their size, the Hawaiian Islands cover an impressively wide range of climates. The trade winds reach the islands' east coasts, dumping rain and moisture on the eastern (or windward) side of the islands. This makes the east shores wet, cool, and lush with vegetation. The west sides of the islands (the leeward sides) are dryer, sunnier and warmer.
